Syria army troops deal hard blows to Takfiri terrorists
Military sources said Syrian army soldiers killed 14 members of the Jaysh al-Islam terrorist group during separate offensives in the Marj al-Sultan and al-Nashabiyeh villages near the capital.
Syrian army forces also launched an operation in the Jobar district of Damascus, killing 16 Jaysh al-Islam militants.
An unspecified number of Takfiri militants were killed as Syrian government forces raided a terrorist hideout in the town of Arbeen.
Elsewhere in the towns of al-Hadath and Hawarin in the western province of Homs, Syrian fighter jets attacked Daesh positions, destroying several pickup trucks with heavy machine guns mounted on them and a sizable cache of munitions.
Syrian military aircraft also pounded Daesh bases on the outskirts of the ancient city of Palmyra, located 215 kilometers (133 miles) northeast of Damascus, killing a large number of the extremists and destroying their ammunition.
Additionally, nearly 20 Takfiri terrorists were killed when Syrian government troops launched a string of operations in the western-central province of Hama.

Daesh rockets kill nine girls at Syrian school
At least nine schoolgirls have been killed and more than a dozen others injured in a rocket attack launched by foreign-sponsored Takfiri militants against a residential area in the eastern Syrian province of Deir ez-Zor.
A Syrian Interior Ministry source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the nine schoolgirls lost their lives and 15 others were injured when several rockets fired by militants struck a school building in the Harabesh neighborhood of the provincial capital city of Deir ez-Zor, located 450 kilometers (280 miles) northeast of the capital, Damascus, on Tuesday morning, Syria’s official news agency SANA reported.
The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights blamed the Takfiri Daesh terrorist group for the rocket attack.
The development came only a day after three young girls were killed and two others wounded when a barrage of rockets fired by Takfiri terrorists slammed into Nile Street in Syria’s northern city of Aleppo.
The projectiles also caused substantial damage to several houses at the targeted area.
Elsewhere in the Salhab town of the western-central province of Hama, two civilians were killed and eight others injured after rockets fired by Takfiri extremists struck residential neighborhoods.
Also on Monday, a civilian lost life and nine others sustained injuries in a terrorist mortar attack against the northern Damascus neighborhood of Barzeh.

Extremist Jews said to be attackers of Palestinian home with 9-month-old asleep
JERUSALEM (JTA) — Jewish extremists are believed to be behind an attack on a West Bank home while the Palestinian family, including a 9-month-old boy, was asleep.
No one was hurt in the attack by two smoke grenades early Tuesday morning in the Palestinian village of Beitillu, near Ramallah, according to reports. The baby and his parents were sleeping at the time of the attack.
The words “revenge” and “greetings from the prisoners of Zion” were drawn on the side of the home, apparently a reference to the July 31 attack on a home in the Palestinian village of Duma that killed an 18-month-old boy and his parents, and severely injured a 4-year-old. Several alleged Jewish extremists remain in Israeli prisons suspected of being involved in the Duma firebombing.
Husain al Najjar, the father of the family whose house was hit Tuesday, told Army Radio that his home also was attacked a year ago by people he identified as “settlers.”

Iraq army advances into Ramadi center
Iraqi forces advance into the center of the Ramadi city, which has been under the control of Daesh terrorists since May.
The push to retake the capital of Iraq’s western province of Anbar was launched overnight on Tuesday, with Sabah al-Noman, spokesman of the Iraqi counter-terrorism service, saying, “The city will be cleared in the coming 72 hours,” AFP reported.
“We went into the center of Ramadi from several fronts and we began purging residential areas,” he added.
The country’s elite counter-terrorism force is leading the operation, which is also joined by the Shia-dominated Hashid al-Shaabi volunteer group of fighters.
Local media outlets reported that the beginning of the operation featured heavy confrontation between the armed forces and the terrorists in the south of the city, which resulted in a number of casualties from both sides.
In the northern parts of the city, 14 members of security forces and volunteer fighters lost their lives in a bomb blast carried out by the Takfiri militants. At least six Daesh members were killed during clashes with Iraqi armed units.

Israel’s Ministry of Defense / Reuters A new Israeli mid-range missile interceptor developed in cooperation with the US has successfully passed its final trials and is expected to enter service next year, Israel’s Defense Ministry said.
A missile defense system called David’s Sling is designed to intercept a wide range of targets, from rocket artillery strikes, to aircraft, to low-flying ballistic missiles, at ranges of between 100 and 200 kilometers. It is expected to fill the operational gap between Israel’s short-range Iron Dome system and the Arrow ballistic interceptor, which are already in use.
According to the Israeli Defense Ministry, the new system will be further developed in order to be capable of intercepting unmanned aircraft, Israel’s Haaretz reported.
David’s Sling will be handed over to the troops “at the end of the first quarter of 2016,” Yair Ramati, head of the Israel Missile Defense Organization, said, as quoted by AFP.
David’s Sling, also known as the Magic Wand, is designed to replace the Patriot missiles purchased from the US, which are currently being used by Israeli forces.

AMSTERDAM (JTA) — The mayor of Amsterdam pledged $1.27 million for the protection of Jewish institutions.
Eberhard van der Laan informed the City Council on Friday of his decision to allocate the funds next year to 15 Jewish organizations that asked for security-related subsidies and were deemed to be at risk, the ANP news agency reported.
The subsidy comes on top of a $2.2 million commitment by the municipality for protection of Jewish institutions in 2014-18 and another $820,000 offered by the central government, the Nederlands Dagblad daily reported. A mosque that applied for the funding was declined, with officials saying it was not at risk.
The Dutch Jewish community spends approximately $1 million annually from its own budget on protection, according to its representatives.

Naftali Bennett condemns Jewish extremists, affirms support for Shin Bet
JERUSALEM (JTA) — Naftali Bennett, leader of the right-wing Jewish Home Party, condemned Jewish extremists and affirmed his support for the Shin Bet security service in its investigation of the firebombing of a Palestinian home.
The leader of the religious Zionist political party also condemned the Jewish terrorism manifested in the recent attacks on Palestinians, including the murder of a Palestinian teen in response to the kidnapping and murder of three Israeli teens, which he called “a new approach that is being followed by a few dozen disturbed anarchists,” in a post Tuesday on his Facebook page.
“This approach is intended to destroy the ties between the Nation of Israel and the State of Israel,” Bennett wrote. This “is not the way of the Israeli right, and it is not the way of religious Zionism.”
“This is anarchy,” he wrote.

“We went to work as usual at eight in the morning. The girls’ group was having a physical education lesson in the yard. The first bomb fell at 8:20am,” Droubi Mohammed al-Ali, the director of the Maisalune middle school, told RT in a telephone interview.
“We tried to make sure that the students would not come to any harm, but unfortunately this was not the case, as nine girls were killed and around 15 were wounded, three of whom are in a critical condition,” he added.
The rocket attacks struck the Harabesh neighborhood of the city and hit the all-girls school. Al-Ali confirmed that the rockets had been fired from an area controlled by Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL). He added that those affected were in the seventh and 10th grades.

The downing of the Russian Su-24 bomber over Syria while carrying out anti-terrorist operations is a great loss to the international efforts in the fight against terrorism, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said. TrendsSu-24 downing
“We have taken note that the downed Russian plane was fulfilling a mission… It was downed while destroying terrorist targets in Syrian territory,” Hong Lei said.
Late last month, China said the downing of the Russian jet-fighter by Turkey needed to be “further clarified.”
“China is deeply concerned about this issue,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hong Lei told a press briefing when asked to comment, according to Xinhua.
Hong Lei said: “China supports all international efforts on anti-terrorism,” adding that Beijing wants more communication between those involved.
Last week, Moscow started analyzing the Su-24’s flight recorder. It was opened live in front of international experts and journalists during a press conference. The Russian military has invited experts from 14 nations to work on the black box, but only China and British experts have so far agreed to take part, Lieutenant General Sergey Dronov, deputy commander of the Russian Air and Space Forces, told the media on Friday.

Israeli Vice Premier Silvan Shalom has resigned following allegations of sexual harassment by him on a number of women who worked with the long-serving politician.
In a statement released by state media on Sunday, Shalom, who is seen as close ally of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, reiterated his claim of innocence, but said that he was stepping down because of the toll the allegations will have on his family.
“I am weary of the suffering that has been parceled out to my family, wife, children and elderly mother,” he said in a statement. “My family fully supports me, but there is no justification for the price asked of them. For these reasons I have decided to resign my position as a minister and Knesset member.”
The Times of Israel reports that a total of thirteen women have come forward alleging that Shalom harassed them at various points of his 23-year political career, although none are to have lodged an official police complaint.

On Sunday, about two thirds of Slovenians rejected a law that would allow same-sex couples to marry and adopt children in the second referendum on gay rights in four years. The ‘No’ vote was championed by a local activist group and the Catholic Church.
A convincing 63.5 percent of the voters voted ‘No’ to the law defining family as a “union of two persons” instead of “union of a man and a woman,” with 36.5 voting ‘Yes’, according to Slovenia’s Electoral Commission.
In March, the Slovenian National Assembly passed a law giving same-sex couples the right to marry and adopt children, but the provisions were not enforced as a civil society group called ‘For Children’ appealed to the Constitutional Court, calling for a referendum.
The group had gathered tens of thousands of signatures in favor of a nationwide vote, according to local media.
