Some unexpected statements emerged in Al-Jazeera’s interview with Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, who acknowledged that Ankara was supporting armed groups in Syria, while ruling out a Turkish invasion and accusing Russia of ethnic cleansing.

Davutoglu praised the militants currently in control of the strategic city of Aleppo, which are engaged in a civil war against Damascus, for repelling attacks from various forces.

“How would they be able to defend themselves if there was no Turkish support of the Syrian people? … If there’s today a real moderate Syrian opposition, it’s because of the Turkish support. If today the [Assad] regime isn’t able to control all the territories [it’s] because of Turkish and some other countries’ support,” he told Al-Jazeera earlier this week.

Speaking in English, the Prime Minister promised that Ankara “will be doing everything for Syrian brothers and sisters – without asking any assistance from anywhere – for refugees as well as for the heroic people in Syria… all Syrians, those, who are raising their voice against this aggression by the regime, by terrorists like YPG (Kurdish People’s Protection Units), Daesh (Islamic State, IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) and foreign forces, who are invading Syria today, like Russia and Iran.”

ADL to provide Donald Trump, all presidential candidates info on extremists like Duke

(JTA) — The Anti-Defamation League said it will provide all presidential candidates with information on extremists and hate groups following Donald Trump’s admission that he didn’t know anything about former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke.

In a statement Sunday afternoon, the ADL said its Center on Extremism, which monitors and exposes extremists and hate groups, is providing information about extremists, including to the Trump campaign, “so that all candidates can be fully aware of these individuals and have a more complete picture when determining whose endorsements they should accept or reject.”

In an interview that morning on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Trump told host Jake Tapper: “Just so you understand, I don’t know anything about David Duke, OK? I don’t know anything about what you’re even talking about with white supremacy or white supremacists,” Trump told Tapper.

Several days earlier, Duke had told his radio listeners they should vote and volunteer for Trump. The Republican presidential front-runner disavowed the endorsement hours after the “State of the Union” interview, for the second time in three days, after refusing to do so on the program.

French teacher to stand trial over charges of making up Islamic State attack

Tzion Saadon accused of inventing his claim in November that he was attacked by ISIS supporters was fabricated; he is the second Jewish French teacher to have allegedly lied about ISIS attack. A teacher at a Jewish school in the southern French city of Marseille will stand trial in April after investigators concluded that he falsely reported being stabbed by Islamic State supporters, the prosecutors said on Thursday.

Tzion Saadon invited the press to his house in Marseille in southern France the day after the supposed attack in November, saying he had been beaten by three men claiming to represent the jihadist group. But a police source confirmed on Wednesday that the man had been arrested for allegedly fabricating the story.

After giving an inspiring performance at the “Jungle” refugee camp in Calais, the British actor Jude Law was ready to go back home. He was one foot inside his team’s coach, when his security guards were reportedly attacked by asylum seekers.

Just as the film crew’s cameras were switched off, the stones came flying the security guards’ way. Calais migrants then proceeded to steal phones from the two of the minders, the Sunday People reported.

“We were shocked to see some of the migrants acting like football hooligans. The security team had stones thrown at them and two had phones smashed and stolen,” an unnamed witness told the newspaper.

Jude Law branded the camp “dangerous” after the incident, according to the newspaper.

Last week’s performance was aimed at drawing authorities’ attention to the fate of refugees. British celebrities, including Jude law, actor Toby Jones, singer Tom Odell, and playwright Tom Stoppard urged British authorities and Prime Minister David Cameron to resolve the issues regarding the demolition of the camp.

Tory infighting intensifies as David Cameron is warned of plot to oust him

Reports come amid claims Foreign Secretary called Conservative MP a ‘total s***’

Conservative in-fighting over the EU referendum has worsened amid reports the Foreign Secretary swore at a senior Eurosceptic colleague and David Cameron was warned he faces a plot to oust him as PM.

On Saturday night it emerged the Foreign Secretary, Philip Hammond, reportedly called Conservative MP Bill Cash “a total s***” after he defied orders to keep a report on the EU deal negotiated by David Cameron under wraps.

In a letter published by the Mail on Sunday, Mr Hammond is accused of explicitly telling him: “This is not a public document so while I will draw on it tomorrow we should refrain from referring to it explicity in the session.”

The EU is our own Hotel California: We can check out, but we’ll never leave

I’m sorry to break this to you but it looks as if we’ll have to endure not one but two EU referendum campaigns.

The second one, by the way, will definitely end in a vote to stay in.

The ‘exit’ campaign was last week cunningly taken over by Tories who don’t want to leave the Superstate and will use a vote to leave (if it happens) as the basis for yet another round of negotiations with Brussels.

Boris Johnson and Michael Howard are ancient liberal Europhiles, who have learned how to seduce the Tory Party with speeches that sound Right-wing but aren’t really. It is painful to see this cynical seduction technique at work, and watch the old ladies fall for it.
