Terri Schiavo Vs. Gabby Giffords

Does anyone remember how condescending and vicious the liberals were in the Terri Schiavo case? There was no shortage of vegetable jokes. Leftists were implying that the parents were imagining any signs of intelligence. In an ironic twist of fate one of their liberal elite, Congresswoman Gabby Giffords has just suffered a traumatic brain injury due to a crazed gunman, Jared Loughner. Are the liberals talking about pulling the plug? No, they’re all chanting a mantra about a “recovery” even though it’s not clear at this time if Giffords will be back at all in any meaningful way.
One recent article notes “Less than two weeks after surviving a bullet through the brain, Rep. Gabrielle Giffords is to be moved to Houston to begin an arduous journey of intensive mental and physical rehabilitation. She’ll have to relearn how to think and plan. It’s unclear if she is able to speak or how well she can see. And while she is moving both arms and legs, it’s uncertain how much strength she has on her right side. Her swift transition from an intensive care unit to a rehab center is based on the latest research, which shows the sooner rehab starts, the better patients recover. Giffords’ family hopes to move the Arizona congresswoman on Friday to TIRR Memorial Hermann hospital in Houston, where her husband lives and works as an astronaut. The exact day of the move will depend on her health.”
According to that article Giffords may or may not have the ability to see and speak and she’ll have to relearn how to plan or think assuming she is able.
Terri Schiavo’s husband was suspected of strangling her, cutting off her air supply and putting her into a brain-damaged state. Terri’s parents wanted to keep her alive while her husband was given the authority to decide if Mrs. Schiavo should live or die. In effect, the state may have become an accomplice to murder, basically finishing the job.
The issue for the liberals in the Schiavo case was the ability to pull the plug whenever the opportunity arises especially when White people were concerned. This is how Democrats plan to keep down Medicare costs. Instead of stopping the endless flow of needy Third World invaders, the Democrats would rather just convince Grandpa to take the lethal injection. That’s why the ghoulish Dr. Kervorkian keeps getting out of prison for illegal assisted suicides.
Jared Loughner fired a 9mm bullet into Congresswoman Giffords’ head from point blank range. The bullet went through the left side of her brain exiting her temple. Not all that long ago, someone with that much brain damage would have been declared dead and little effort would have been made to keep her “alive”.
Several days after the shooting, Obama claimed that Gabby opened her eyes for the first time (which was probably a lie). Notice there was no claim that she recognized anyone.
Imagine what would happen if Giffords wound up exactly like Terri Schiavo despite the efforts to help her recover. Do you think the Democrats would let her husband decide whether or not to let her continue to live, the way Michael Schiavo decided for his wife?
