Hobart Dots store to pay for refusing to hire whites

BY Teresa Auch Schultz. The Hobart Dots store has agreed to pay $246,500 to a group of at least 23 white job applicants who the store refused to hire because of their race.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed suit against the retailer last year when a white woman who applied for a job claimed she was told by an employee the store didn’t hire white people.

The EEOC said in court documents it has identified at least 22 other people who were denied a job because of their race, and said another 15 to 20 more victims could exist.
