More news from our “gorgeous mosaic” of a society as the liberals call it. The Asian mayor of San Gabriel was recently arrested for, among other things, purse-snatching. So much for Asians being the “model minority”. Perhaps the Asian immigrants in the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s mostly from Japan, Korea and the more clever Chinese were model minorities, but it seems like we’re getting a big drop in quality lately. Often the second generation of Chinese and Koreans gets involved with drug problems, political corruption and a wide range of other vices that can be found in our free society.
The San Gabriel Valley Tribune reports: “Police arrested San Gabriel Mayor Albert Y.M. Huang on Friday on suspicion of battery, robbery and assault, officials said. Huang, 35, is suspected of taking a woman’s purse and driving away from a restaurant in the 300 block of Valley Boulevard with the alleged victim hanging onto the car. The 33-year old woman was not seriously injured. Huang was released on $100,000 bail late Friday morning…In an e-mailed statement, Huang maintained his innocence Friday. ‘As a public official and a former Boy Scout, I hold myself to the highest standard of conduct,’ Huang said.”
It is not yet known whether “holding himself to the highest standards of conduct” in this case will include his resignation and his disappearance from public view. Need anyone ask? This guy is a Democrat, of course.
The San Gabriel Valley Tribune goes on: “On Friday October 15, 2010 at approx 1:15 a.m. the San Gabriel Police Department dispatch received a call from a passing citizen that a man and a woman were fighting by a white vehicle at 301 W. Valley Blvd. Officers responded and located the subjects of the call at Prospect Avenue and Newby Avenue…Huang was arrested after he was detained by a security guard who spotted the man driving 45 miles per hour down Prospect Avenue with the victim holding onto the side of the vehicle, Whitney said. The guard pulled the vehicle over and detained Huang until police arrived. During the argument, Huang took the woman’s purse, which contained personal information, cash and keys, and attempted to drive off in her vehicle, police said.”
Huang is apparently under the delusion that he is Lindsay Lohan. I don’t think he’ll come out of this with any of his career intact like Ms. Lohan did after she went on a wild ride in a vehicle she commandeered to chase her maid around Los Angeles. The mayor of San Gabriel is not that big a celebrity.
The article notes “The woman attempted to prevent Huang from driving away by reaching through the window of her car. Huang pushed the woman away, entered his vehicle and drove off with the woman’s purse, Whitney said The woman attempted to grab her purse through the passenger side window while standing on the running boards of Huang’s SUV when he drove off, officials said. The woman held onto the front passenger mirror while Huang drove down Prospect Avenue…”
This is definitely Lohan-esque. Someone should inform Mr. Huang that he’s a mayor and not a movie star diva. (Somehow, I would not surprised if it were revealed that Mr. Huang dressed up like Ms. Lohan on the weekends. Stranger things have happened. Could there be a drug problem involved? That might explain his bizarre behavior.)
Needless to say, this episode will simply disappear down the media Memory Hole. When Republicans misbehave (as they often do) the media is all over them like ugly on an ape and they never, ever let go or forget. When Democrats get caught showing their butts, it’s as if the whole incident never even happened or they try to shame us into dropping the issue by saying “That was consensual behavior between two adults and a cigar.” We’ll likely get one media report on this and then nothing.
Can you imagine what would happen if the Republican mayor of a major California city were caught trying to snatch a woman’s purse and then carjacking her? You’d have a full media feeding frenzy going before you could say Jack Robinson. Here we have a crazy Democrat just three weeks before an election, and the story is unlikely to go beyond local media coverage in southern California.
