The notion of migrants arriving in Germany and enriching the economy has proven to be a “fairytale,” the leader of the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) party told RT, adding that Chancellor Angela Merkel has given up the country’s borders.

Speaking to RT’s Sophie Shevardnadze, AfD leader Frauke Petry said “this fairytale of migrants coming to Germany and being the enriching factor for the economy has been proven to be false and there are no concepts from our government on how to deal with the situation.”

She went on to accuse Merkel of angering German residents by opening the country’s borders to anyone who wanted to come, and “not distinguishing between real refugees and migrants…

“…Naturally the people in Germany are waking up, realizing that our chancellor has given up the sovereignty of the country, she has given up our borders, she has given up our rules and regulations.”

Petry stressed the need for “quick processes” to decide whether new arrivals can stay in Germany, adding that the current system leaves asylum seekers in limbo.

Turkey and Israel are to announce an agreement on the normalization of bilateral ties, ending six years of a freeze in relations, a report says.

Reporting on Tuesday, Turkey’s Hurriyet daily said the two sides would make the announcement during final talks on the issue on June 26.

In September 2010, Turkey suspended its military ties with Israel and expelled the Israeli envoy from Ankara over Tel Aviv’s refusal to apologize over its killing of nine Turkish nationals aboard an aid vessel bound for Israeli-seiged Gaza. A tenth Turk later died of the injuries sustained in the raid.

Ankara conditioned the normalization on an Israeli apology, compensation for the victims, and Tel Aviv’s lifting of its siege on the Gaza Strip.

Israel has reportedly met the first two demands and alleged it would take moves aimed at easing the plight of the Gazans.

Turkey and Israel see eye to eye on the conflict in Syria and the need to topple President Bashar al-Assad.

Liberman, who last month replaced longtime defense minister Moshe Yaalon, is in Washington, D.C., seeking to reassure Israel’s closet ally that the transition will be smooth.

“Secretary Carter and Minister Liberman reaffirmed the strength of the U.S.- Israeli defense relationship and the United States’ unwavering commitment to Israel’s security,” the Pentagon said in a statement after the meeting.

The Russian military says Washington still won’t provide a list of groups it considers terrorist, allowing jihadists to regroup and escape Russian-led air raids on their positions, the head of the Russian General Staff said.

Valery Gerasimov’s statement comes in response to one from US Secretary of State John Kerry last week, in which he said Washington is running out of patience regarding truce violations in Syria. The ceasefire brokered by Russia and the United States in February doesn’t include Al-Nusra Front and Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) positions, as well as other formations considered to be terrorists by the United Nations Security Council.
