Palestinians say the Israeli regime has detained some 10,000 Palestinian minors in the occupied West Bank and East al-Quds (Jerusalem) since the year 2000.

An official from the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) made the announcement on Wednesday, adding that the inmates’ rights are “regularly” violated by humiliation and torture.

“Israel does not provide any immunity for children and regularly violates international agreements on children’s rights by humiliating and torturing them and denying them fair trials,” Issa Qaraqe, head of the PLO’s committee on detainees, said in a statement.

The announcement came on the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child by the UN General Assembly.

The Syrian army has made further gains in its battle against ISIL Takfiri militants as it takes control of more areas in the Homs countryside.

On Wednesday, Syrian forces took control of three areas north of the al-Shaer gas field, close to a mountain by the same name in the Homs countryside, Syria’s official news agency SANA reported.

The Syrian army killed an unspecified number of militants and destroyed a large amount of terrorists’ equipment during the attacks.

On November 6, Syrian army troops backed by pro-government fighters recaptured the strategic Shaer gas field in the central province of Homs.

The Israeli regime has approved plans to construct 78 settlement units in the occupied Palestinian territories of West Bank.

The Israeli municipal planning committee in East al-Quds (Jerusalem) made the decision on Wednesday.

According to an Israeli municipal spokeswoman, 50 units will be built in the illegal settlement of Har Homa and 28 others in Ramot, some 180 kilometers away.

The plan is a continuation of Tel Aviv’s “policy to cause more tension, push towards further escalation, and waste any chance to create an atmosphere for calm,” said Nabil Abu Rdainah, a spokesman for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

Israeli forces have attacked Palestinians in East Al-Quds (Jerusalem) as the situation remains tense in the occupied Palestinian lands.

Fierce clashes erupted on Wednesday between Palestinian youths and Israeli forces at a checkpoint near Shuafat refugee camp in East al-Quds.

The Israeli soldiers attacked the Palestinian protesters with tear gas and sound bombs.

Elsewhere, in Silwan, Israelis razed to the ground the house of Palestinian man Abdel Rahman al-Shaludi, who Israel says rammed his car into a railway stop in al-Quds, killing two people on October 22. He later died of injuries sustained from gunfire by Israeli forces.

Open Hillel Admits ‘Mistake’ in Snooping on Eric Fingerhut Conference Ca

Published November 19, 2014.

The Open Hillel network admitted that it made a “mistake” by relaying information garnered from an off-the-record conference call featuring the director of Hillel International — a move that led to the firing of an American Jewish Committee staffer.

“Recently, information was shared on an Open Hillel e-mail chain concerning a conference call briefing between Hillel International CEO Eric Fingerhut and the American Jewish Committee,” Open Hillel said in a statement emailed Wednesday to JTA. “This resulted in the firing of a recent college graduate and Open Hillel member who had worked with the AJC.”

Open Hillel is a network of Jewish student campus groups that reject Hillel International’s precepts banning events with speakers who advocate boycotting Israel and working with groups that are seen as hypercritical of Israel.
